Contact Forms
When prospective students visit your site, are you getting their contact information? Contact forms work much better than email inquiries because they ask for specific details such as name, email address and country.  The English Language Program at University of California, Santa Barbara Extension has a very nice contact form. To see the form go to their site, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Information Request". www.unex.ucsb.edu/ip/english/

Survey Results: Web Site Updates

Last month we asked readers how often they update their web sites and a large majority said they had within the last month. It's absolutely crucial that you're doing the same, as an outdated web site is a negative reflection on your program. Updates can be time consuming, but here are some ways to improve the efficiency of this process:

1. Limit the information on your site. Prospects don't need to see every detail of your program, just enough to impress them.

2. Make the changes yourself. Many programs have students or staff with basic HTML skills who can make updates without having to go through the main web technology staff.

3. Consider using a content management system. There's software available that allows you to update information through an administrative "backroom," without any HTML skills.
