Location, Location, Location!
We spend a lot of time emphasizing the importance of a personal web site, filled with pictures of smiling students and fun activities. However, giving a good impression of the location of your program is very important as well. Whether you're in sunny California, snowy Canada or quiet Kansas, it's essential to showcase the highlights of the area. A great example of a web site focusing on its location is that of University of Victoria's English Language Centre. The site does a great job of incorporating the feel of the city. Check it out when you get a minute! www.uvcs.uvic.ca/elc

Survey Results: Web Site Focus

Last month we asked readers this question: Which type of person should your web site focus on the most? 70% said prospects, which is lower than we had anticipated. To reach its maximum marketing and sales potential, your site should be very clearly focused on prospective students. You may have additional information to display for other types of people, but make sure it's not the focus and definitely lower in hierarchy. As an experiment, you might even want to bring a few lower-level students into the computer lab and ask them to find the application on your site. I guarantee you'll learn something valuable.

Happy recruiting!
